Fundraising
Introduction
The SESVA is a separate entity to the NSWSES, and as such does not receive any government funding. It's members, who are all volunteers, are not charged any membership fees. The SESVA therefore needs to undertake some fund raising in order to function and provide support to its members.
The SESVA currently uses two external organisations to assist with this fund raising and has Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) for this purpose.
Countrywide Media
Countrywide Media produce a quarterly magazine and annual calendar for our members. In order to fund these initiatives Countrywide Media contact local businesses in the area to seek support. The businesses that agree to support the SESVA are allocated a certain amount of space in the Magazine and/or Calendars depending on the amount they contribute.
Callers from Countrywide Media will
- Clearly identify themselves as being from Countrywide Media and representing the NSW SESVA.
- Do not specify an individual Unit that will benefit.
- Do not say funds will go direct to Units.
- Will not be rude and hang up on potential clients
If there are any queries regarding Countrywide Media and the SESVA feel free to contact Tony Cornish on (03) 9937 0200.
Contact Centres Australia
Contact Centres Australia (CCA) undertake a number of raffles each year on behalf of the SESVA. These raffles will call residential homes across regional and metropolitan areas of NSW. CCA use a dedicated SESVA Team has been briefed on the activities of the SESVA. This Team is responsible for managing the SESVA campaign and training others in the call centre on correct scripting and best practice. All operators go through training prior to contacting any potential supporters for the raffle.
Funds raised from these raffles goes primarily to supporting volunteers through the provision of scholarships and Unit grants.
